Outdoor Adventures, learning Daily Schedule



6:00-8:00 Fantastically Free to Move About and Be Me

During this time children may choose from a variety of morning activities. Every day different choices will be available to the children. This is a time in which your child may choose to play independently or with others. Some of the morning centers made available to the children may include blocks, dramatic play, puzzles, coloring, books, or games. Children may choose to play with any of the activities put out that day and may play with what they want and move about freely to the different centers. *Please note Breakfast will be available to the children starting at 7:00 am. Breakfast will stop being served at 7:40 am to allow time for clean up. If you would like your child to have breakfast please be here no later then 7:40 am.


8:00-8:30 Outdoor Adventures / Magnificent Movement

As long as the weather permits the children will be given outdoor time to play, explore nature, and get their bodies moving! Different activities and toys will be brought outside for children to play with as they wish. Bouncing balls, chalk, hula hoops, bug catchers, and a variety of other materials we be readily available to the children to encourage movement and nature exploration. On days when the weather is less than favorable children will be presented with movement activities inside. Indoor movement activities may include tunnels, obstacle courses, ball pits, or music and movement activities. Children will develop gross motor skills during this time though both independent and teacher led activities.


8:30-9:00 My Fine Tune Up Time

During this time the children will work on developing their fine motor skills. Independent and group activities will allow children to develop these skills in fun and creative ways. Some of the activities presented at this time may include lacing, tracing pictures, stringing beads, or using tools such as eye droppers, clothes pins, tongs, or play dough to strengthen fine motor muscles.


9:00-10:00 Pondering at the Pond

During this whole group time children will work on a variety of skills. Typical “circle time” lessons will be taught to children in interactive and hands on ways. Children will learn about the calendar, holidays, important people in history, and learn more in depth about that weeks theme. The children will learn and grow together as we progress and add onto the groups knowledge of letters and numbers. Life lessons will be taught during this time and children will be asked to think about and explain how these life lessons pertain to and effect them. Children will engage in group discussion and practice both speaking to and listening to their peers. In addition to learning when its time to talk and when it's time to listen children will learn how to respect themselves and others. Included during this time will be chances for the children to get up and move and shake their sillies out. Stories will be read and brought to life during this time through story boxes, acting, music and movement.


10:00-10:20 Scrumptious Snack

Before snack children will practice hand washing skills as well as setting the table. Children will learn about table manners and engage in conversations with one another as they enjoy a snack and re energize for the day ahead.


10:20-12:20 Loving Learning

During this time we will work on reading, writing, math, language, art, science and social studies topics. These activities will furthermore revolve around the theme we are working on that week. Depending on the lesson, children will work individually or at times as a whole group. Individual work with the children will be built into this part of the day to see that they are working on what they need to practice. By doing this they will slowly build upon their skills and knowledge at their own rate and develop and progress through academic milestones.


12:30-1:20 Laid Back Lunch

Before lunch children will practice hand washing skills as well as setting the table for a formal meal. A dining atmosphere will be created at this time with a centerpiece in the middle of the table and serving dishes. Children will practice family style dining by serving themselves, passing food, and practicing proper dining etiquette. In addition family style dining will help the children to practice hand eye coordination while serving themselves, one to one correspondence while counting out how many scoops of a dish to put on their plate, and working together when asking one another and pass serving dishes around the table.


1:20-1:30 A Story of my Own

Library time will be offered at this point of the day for children to explore books and stories. Stories may be presented in a variety of ways. During this time children will learn how to handle books, may practice using their imaginations while listening to an auditory story, or experience different story tellers though books being read online. A love of books and stories will be fostered during this time.


1:30-3:30 Restful Relaxation

At this time children will be encouraged to rest and relax their minds and bodies. During nap time children may quietly cuddle up with a stuffed animal and sleep. If a child is unable to sleep they will be provided with story to listen to, guided childrens meditation, or a quiet activity to occupy them on their nap mat. Quiet activities may include books, felt boards, small puzzles, lacing, or quiet activity folders.


* Please note that if you would not like your child to rest I will do my best to accommodate this preference. However, all children will be asked to lay quietly on their nap mats for 30 minutes before receiving a quiet activity to engage in. Regardless of parent preferences if a child should fall asleep at any point during nap time they will be allowed to rest undisturbed until nap time is over.


3:30-4:00 Outdoor Adventures / Magnificent Movement

4:00-4:20 A Sprinkle of Something Special

At this time the children will engage in a simple, short, and fun special activity. These activities may range from playing board games, learning new songs or finger plays, or exploration of cooking, travel, gardening, or any other special interest that captivates the childrens interest and imaginations.


4:20-4:40 Scrumptious Snack

Before snack children will practice hand washing skills as well as setting the table. Children will learn about table manners and engage in conversations with one another as they enjoy a snack and reflect upon the day.


4:40-6:00 Fantastically Free to Move About and Be Me

During this time children may choose from a variety of afternoon activities. Every day different choices will be available to the children. This is a time in which your child may choose to play independently or with others. Some of the afternoon centers made available to the children may include blocks, dramatic play, puzzles, coloring, books, or games. Children may choose to play with any of the activities put out that day and may play with what they want and move about freely to the different centers.
